There is a lot of FUD out there about Search Engine optimization. The Search Engines give you FUD, SEO experts spread FUD, FUD gets spread on forums and blogs. It’s hard to avoid the FUD!

By now you might be wondering:

What In The World Is FUD?

FUD stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. A lot of people (the Search Engines included) want you to have fear, uncertainty and doubt about how to get higher Search Engine rankings. The Search Engines want you to have FUD, because it pays their bills. How else can they get you to pay for advertising on their Search Engine? Some (not all)SEO experts want you to have FUD, because it pays their bills. Your competitors (people trolling in forums) want you to have FUD, because they don’t want you competing with them (and it pays their bills).

Just say no to the FUD!

Sure there are a lot of of complicated tweaks you can make to ensure your blog is SEOfriendly, but to get high rankings in the Search Engines it doesn’t have to be so complicated. And I will prove it!

Well guess what?

I don’t have a robots.txt file, I don’t use SEO plug-ins, I don’t do all the complicated things that people tell you that you are “supposed” to do to rank high for search terms. In fact, I only recently started putting the nofollow tag on links to my rss feed (it hasn’t made a difference in my rankings yet).

Yes, there are things you can do with your robots.txt file, with the nofollow tag, with plug-ins, etc. that will help your Search Engine rankings. However, if you don’t have enough time to keep up with the latest and greatest Search Engine techniques you can still get solid traffic from the Search Engines and THIS blog is a great example of that.

So, How Do I Get High Searh Engine Rankings?

Well, here’s the deal. There are three major components of SEO. Anyone can master these three components. Once you master them, you will have no problem at all getting more Search Engine traffic to your blog, because everyone else will be caught up in theFUD.

Seach Engine Optimization (SEO) can really be broken down into three major components:

1. Keyword Research
2. Quality Content
3. Links

All you have to do is conduct good keyword research, write killer content that uses those keywords, and get links to your blog. It’s really quite simple!

In the next post in my ongoing blog traffic series, I will include a very simple way to do keyword research, some easy ways to get links to your blog, and I will discuss a little more about writing quality keyword rich conetnt to make the Search Engines happy. I will also talk about a few other steps I have taken to get high Search Engine rankings with this blog. None of them involve doing a Triple Lindy, or anything else too complicated
